1, 2, 3… block myself!

Do you remember playing hide-and- seek as a child? Remember how it felt if you could reach the “home base” again without being seen and then gleefully shouting “1,2,3 block myself”? Such a fun game to play. So unfortunate that you are still playing it today.

What? Yes, indeed, there are too many adults playing hide-and- seek with life. Hiding behind all kinds of emotional masks throughout the day and then they shout “block myself” every night when they make it to bed without any hiccups. Totally exhausted. They made it through another day without getting into trouble at work, without any conflict, without setting one foot out of their comfort zone.

These are the same people who like to play the complaining game as well. They have a whole arsenal of negative stories, the latest corruption scandals, the crime stats and the overall sorry state of the nation and their lives in particular ready for anyone daring to ask them “how are you today?”

Happiness eludes them. Positive thinking scares them and they live in constant fear of the one thing nobody can avoid… ie change. These people tend to live in the past. They long for the good old days, totally forgetting that they did the exact same thing in the ast as well. Living in fear and being blocked by their circumstances.

I firmly believe that we are born to be creators, explorers, leaders, thinkers, and to touch the lives of others. We are born to be somebody, to leave our mark and to change the world. We were born to exceed the limits placed on us by others and to live a life of success and to have a spirit of excellence. We were born to be extraordinary and to live beyond our circumstances, rather than be defined by them.

It’s time to play a new game. It’s called 1,2,3… Free-myself- and-fly! There are many versions of this game, but you can start playing it in three steps. Number 1… Face your fears and embrace change. Number 2… Start dreaming again. Number 3… Adopt an attitude of gratitude.

In the coming weeks, we will take a closer look at the steps and rules of the new game. In the meantime, equip yourself for your new future. I strongly advise that you read my book “If you want to you can”. Search for the positive stories on social media and start keeping a Journal of all the things that you are grateful for.
